Hi! I'm Cassidy Meyers. Originally from Los Angeles, California. I'm currently a third year Photography Major, Writing Minor at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Discovering and utilizing creative mediums for self-expression has always been a reoccurring theme throughout my life. Ever since I could remember, I’ve had the urge to convey my thoughts and emotions in ways beyond words.
Growing up I played various instruments, wrote poetry, produced videos and painted. However, it wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I discovered my love for photography.
Learning how to compose images, develop film, and edit were things I looked forward to each and every week, causing me to realize that photography had truly become a passion of mine.
Coming to college, I decided to major in photography. I became intrigued with the idea of turning this passion into a future career. My current photographic goals are fully developing my skills and broadening my knowledge on this artistic medium to the fullest extent. Shooting simultaneously for class assignments, personal projects, and clubs on campus, I continue to learn each day about my artistic style and improve my skills.
Within my photography, I seek to explore and develop a focus around black people and communities. Not only do I want to focus on the black experience as a whole, but specifically the experiences of black women. I find that our stories and voices are often overlooked or incorrectly depicted, and I strive to join the many others making a considerable effort to change this reality.
